Hey,

As far as I know, it will only work with the Storage URLs, as we haven't set up anything with Akamai to support this over their CDN. It may come down the road, but for now this just allows a time-limited direct access to serve straight off the storage node.

Hi Ryuujinx,

This looks great stuff, exactly what I was looking for. You know if this will work with CDN URLs, i.e., the X-CDN-Management-Url response header from the first request? Encountered this if trying to set the temp URL key. :/

curl -i -X POST -H X-Auth-Token:AUTH_TOKEN -H X-Account-Meta-Temp-URL-Key:KEY https://cdn1.clouddrive.com/PATH
HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
Date: Sat, 28 Apr 2012 01:50:30 GMT
Server: Apache
Content-Length: 614
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

Awesome post, worked perfectly. Thank you!

Just a heads up for anybody that stumbles across this, you can't use public keys and the authenticator. I switched back to passwords and it worked just fine.

On Windows 2008 R2, I couldn't find that file. But it's just as easy going to Start - Administrative Tools - Computer Management, and the Disk Management section is right there.

Martin,

This method will generally be faster then rsyncing (file level transfer vs downloading the tar and extracting). The speed is the main factor, as you'll need to put the target server in rescue in order to overwrite some of the files, and it's cleaner either way. Since rescue mode has a time limit, downloading the tar and extracting will generally be the better option.

Hey guys, really nice post and useful at this moment for me. We've contacted with rackspace team for this matter and they told us to look into this blog or use rsync.
So, since you're getting an image from un server and you extract that image in a new one. At the end is pretty much the same as using a rsync (with the difference that with an rsync you're getting the live server)
That's the only reason to prefer this way instead of rsync? I'm really curious about that before we and the team move forward on this.
